Developer FAQ

MUST RETURNED KEYWORDS BE STORED IN THE EXIF METADATA?
No. As the application developer, you are free to store the returned keyword data into your own database.

HOW LONG DOES THE SEARCH TAKE?

Our keyword search engine can generate relevant keywords in milliseconds. Most of the perceived application latency will be in the connection between your application and our server.

AS A DEVELOPER, HOW DO I GET APPLICATION SUPPORT?

We can help you with understanding the API. Sample java code is also available.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO LICENSE THIS TECHNOLOGY FOR MY APPLICATION?
Licensing costs varies upon use model. We have licensing terms available for desktop / web applications as well as mobile applications.

CAN THIS CAPABILITY BE INCLUDED INTO MY APP AS AN IN-APP UPGRADE PURCHASE?

Yes.

CAN THIS BE USED FOR APPLICATIONS THAT ARE NOT PHOTOGRAPHY RELATED?

Yes. If you tell us where you are and when you were there, we will return what was happening. We are continually exploring relationships with local businesses to provide their customers with a richer overall experience.
CAN MY APPLICATION MAKE A QUERY REQUEST PRIOR TO THE PICTURE BEING SNAPPED?
Absolutely. This would be a suggested performance optimization. The only data we require in order to run a query would be the current location and date / time. Optionally, you can send us currently known keywords so that we will not duplicate keywords, resulting in an expanded metadata file.

WILL THE USER INCUR ADDITIONAL DATA TRANSMISSION CHARGES?

It would depend on the user’s data plan. The amount of information being transmitted and received is extremely small. Typical queries result in keywords smaller than 1KB in size. Compare this against a JPEG file which normally ranges from hundreds of KB to MB.
